Introduction
Costa Rica is the world’s leading country in environmental conservation and stewardship. With nearly 5% of the world’s biodiversity, more than 25% of its territory protected in national parks and biological reserves, more than 90% of its electricity produced from renewable sources, high literacy rates, balanced democracy, peace, political stability, and friendly and curious people, this tiny Central American country has served as a living classroom for academic groups from around the world for decades. UGACR’s faculty and staff customizes experienced-based educational opportunities in the fields of ecology, conservation biology, sustainable agriculture, Spanish, culture and applied sustainability for university groups and other academic institutions, including high schools and teaching consortiums from Costa Rica and around the world. This site will guide non-UGA faculty through the steps of setting up academic programs in Costa Rica.
